Hurricanes and South Florida in 2006

No one can say this far in advance where in Florida Hurricanes will strike in the upcoming 2006 Atlantic Hurricane Season. Only that they most likely will and when they do most likely evacuations will be mandatory and highly advised. But where will they hit?

In watching these Hurricane Tracks the last few years it appears that wind sheer often has them turning to make a swing towards the West as the come upward from the outer most Eastern Caribbean along the islands. That is one common track and they seem to hook there, sometimes over shoot making Miami, Key West and the areas from the Alligator Alley South problematic as they are in flood zones and very low with retrospect to sea level. Many people in South Florida lost two to three works of work and school from Wilma, which although only a CAT III at landfall did take out the power and caused hardship throughout.

Another track we keep seeing is along the East Coast of Florida, where they get along side the Eastern Coast of Southern Florida and slowdown and hover, playing hell on the computer modeling. Those areas near Palm Beach and Daytona Beach seem to rev them up and often they come ashore. I have heard people speculating that there are holes in the ozone after space launches which cause more solar energy coming in there. Could be conspiracy theories.

So where is the safest place in Florida to be in the 2006 Tropical Hurricane Season anyway? Or is there a safe place? And if so, where should one go? Well, these are all 64 million dollar questions. But if you live in Florida, do the smart thing when these large Hurricanes come, evacuate ahead of time and do not become a statistic. Think on this in 2006.
