No matter what Web page editing software that you are using if you follow these five steps you will attain quick, manageable, and successful results. The key to success is organization!

1. When you are taking images of your subject it is recommended that you choose a regular pixel setting in the range of approximately 2,000. You can of course go higher and I would recommend going higher if you are only taking a few pics and they are very special. However, as the title of the article indicates I am focusing on Website links (Web pages filled with images) that you can post on your Website for others to see. An example of this is my Web page http://stephencondren.com/Rolls-Royce/2006AnnualMeet.htm for the Rolls-Royce Annual Meeting held last week in Oakbrook, Illinois. When at the concourse I took many images of the automobiles on display. The setting for my camera was put to average, which is about 2,000 pixels. I went down the row and took shot after shot of each car.

2. At home or in your studio take the card from your camera and put it on the computer. Using My Computer go to the card and open the files. When you pick on the envelope you will see all the images files (if you choose view as thumbnail you will actually see the images). All of the files will be numbered sequentially, do not tamper or change these numbers, you will refer to them later. Keep this file folder open.

3. Now open your Web page software. Once this is opened you have some options. In the case of Dreamweaver when you select to open a file it automatically launches Fireworks (their image management software). When the file is selected and opened go to Modify, Canvas. When you touch Canvas a list appears, on that list near the bottom are rotations. Rotate all non-upright images so that they are upright then save and close. When you are finished make a new folder in that folder called 300. Then go one step back and select all the images in the first folder. Copy and paste them to the 300 folder.

4. Now go back to the 300 folder and open each image and go to modify, image, then canvas size. You will see a space for vertical and another for horizontal. Select only the horizontal space and change the number that is highlighted there to 300. Your image will shrink, that is ok. Now save, close, and move to the next image and repeat until you have done all in the 300 folder. The 300 is your reference - letting you know that all the images in that file are upright and 300 in size. When you are finished you will have two folders. The first one with the images and the second name 300 tucked into the first folder. It is important that that you repeat this for any set of images you take; cars, family, boats, whatever. The first file is the name of the topic and the second file, the 300 folder, is tucked into that folder.

5. The last step is to go to My Computer and open the file (that also contains the 300 file) and move them both to the Website folder (whatever you have named your site). Now everything is in order. When you make a new Web page, let us say "Mom's 50th Birthday", save the folder at Mom's 50th Birthday. Now on the Web page of mom's pics you should make a table to place all of the images. Pick the first box of the table (top left). Go to Insert, Image and then go to Mom's 50th Birthday file folder that you put in the Website folder. Then go to the 300 folder and select the first image. Place it in the box. Do this for all the images. Now go to the link panel and in the source box will be the image you inserted, then for the target place scroll to the regular folder (full size images) in Mom's 50th Birthday. It will place and now repeat this for all the images. When you are done save. What you will have in the end is a Web page with images that show all the pics and when you touch any of the images it will enlarge to the full size. There you have it.

I was born and raised on the south side of Chicago in Hyde Park Township, near the University of Chicago. As I child I was always drawing and painting. My father owned an art supply company, Favor Ruhl & Watson, where I was able to get all that I needed to progress in my work.

I have always enjoyed portraiture and landscape painting. In High School (Naperville Central High School) I took Drafting from Mr. Pierce. I quickly grasped the principles of perspective and drafting and hence made a career with both Fine Art and Architectural Renderings.

In the mid 1970's I joined the US Navy and was stationed on board the USS Midway, CV-41. The Midway was home ported in Yokosuka, Japan (A suburb of Tokyo). While in service I traveled all over Asia including such countries as Korea, China, Philippines, Singapore, Pakistan, Hong Kong, and Japan. While in Japan I learned Japanese. I speak German and Spanish as well.

I am an omnivorous reader with a love of History and Philosophy. I admire the works of Immanuel Kant, Albert Schweitzer, and Fredrich Nietzsche. In music I admire the works of Mozart, Bruckner, and Wagner.

I am an ardent chess player and I am a member of the US Chess Federation. I hold memberships at The Chicago Club, The Arts Club of Chicago, The University Club of Chicago, Rolls-Royce Owner?s Club, The Chicago Council on Foreign Relations ? President?s Circle, Rotary/One Chicago, The Executive?s Club of Chicago, and the Chicago Artist?s Coalition.

In 1977 I married Judith Stucky of Wheaton, Illinois. We currently live with our four children in Libertyville, Illinois.
