Affiliate Link Cloaking

I've recently started using affiliate link cloaking and Ive found that its made a world of difference. My conversion ratio for one of my campaigns shot up from 0.80% to 1.75%. I figured that this was due to the fact that people are more comfortable with a for example, www.mp3center.com URL in the browser URL bar as compared to www.linkshield.com/c/200_1. Heres an example of what this link cloaker does.

Clickbank hop link : http://xxx.mp3center.hop.clickbank.net

By clicking on the link above, the URL displayed in the browser windows is : hhttp://www.mp3musiq.com/?hop=xxx

As you can see, my Clickbank affiliate id is displayed in the URL. The affiliate link cloaker tool generates a html page that hides your affiliate id yet isnt a horrible long cryptic alphanumeric URL. Ive generated a sample link for the same MP3 center hoplink.

Affiliate link cloaker generated URL : http://www.wirereed.com/MP3Center.html

If you click on that URL, you ll be directed to the MP3 Center merchant site but the URL in the browser will still remain as http://www.wirereed.com/MP3Center.html. Best of all, youll still receive your commission as the generated URL is redirected to the merchant site trough your Clickbank hoplink. In fact you will see your hoplink flashed briefly in the bottom left browser address bar.

You will need a domain name and a web host to use affiliate link cloaker. These days you can get really cheap hosting and domain name registration so as Ive found, its really worth your while. Heres a little walkthrough of how you use the tool.

1) When you launch the tool youll only need to key in three things. Your Clickbank hoplink, the name of your html page (e.g MP3Center.html) and the title that will appear in the browser title bar.

The tool will then generate a html page. You will need to upload it to your web host. Once this is done your new URL is now www.yourdomainname.com/MP3Center.html

You should then use this URL in all your Google ads.

The tool also gives you the option of encrypting the source code to prevent anyone from trying to view the page source. Your Clickbank hoplink will be embedded in the page source so by revealing the page source, the user will be able to determine that you are an affiliate. I dont imagine that this happens very much but since the function is built in I might as well make good use of it.

Thats pretty much how cloaking works with most cloaking tools. There are however certain cloaking tools that dont work with Clickbank but Ive found that so far Affiliate Link Cloaker by Jim Edwards has worked really well.

Affiliate link cloaking has increased my conversion rates and I'd highly recommend you try it out to see if it works for you.
