Being a Stay at Home Parent

For those parents who have never stayed at home with their growing children, you should know it is not easy. As a matter of fact, it is possibly the most difficult job in the world. Many parents choose to stay home with their children until they are in school full-time. This time period can last up to five or six years, which can be emotionally taxing on a parent.

Most stay at home parents can feel resentful to their spouse when they have to quit their job or give up their education. The thing to do, if you are a stay at home parent, is to remember why you are staying at home. Even if it is to save money, you would likely rather your children be raised by you, other than some other person at a daycare you barely know. Enjoy your time with your children, even if they drive you mad sometimes. The time you spend with them will not last forever. Soon enough they will be in school full time and would rather play with anyone else in the world, but you!

One thing that may help you with your day to day activities with your children is to create a schedule and follow it closely. You can use the morning for playing with your children and their toys, create an outdoor time, an art time, or anything else you desire. This helps keep you sane and everyone knows kids love structure.
