Weight Loss ? The DEW Method ? Part 3

This is the third and final article in a three part series on using the DEW method of weight loss. Each article has focused on one letter in "DEW". Today we will discuss the "W" which stands for water.

Not sure if this will be a shocker to anyone or not. Basically our bodies are mostly water. So it stands to reason that a certain amount of water in your diet would be a requirement. There are plenty of books and websites to give you an idea of what might be ideal for you, but working up to about a gallon a day (or 3.7854118 liters for non-US folks). Like with the exercise article we need to start small and build.

For me the water was also used to help curb the hunger pains between meals and snacks. I started by using a small 12 ounce bottle and drinking 2 a day (1 in the morning, the other in the afternoon). Then every week I would add another 12 ounces until I built up to my desired amount. I found if you can work out a pattern or time schedule, like I must drink 12 ounces before noon, etc., then a habit will be formed. Were there a lot times I was chugging 10 ounces at 11:58 am to keep on schedule, yes but I drank my 12 ounces by noon. And before you ask, yes everyone in the office believes I have a bladder control problem.

To help you in this endeavor, there are now products made specifically for adding flavor to bottled water. Does it have to be bottle water, no! I just found it easier to keep track of my water consumption by using a bottle water container as a measurement. I just refilled it from the drinking fountain or tap as needed.

By cutting down on calories and burning more from exercise, your body will create more waste as it converts fat into energy and protein into muscle. If it has the additional water to work with it will do a better job of flushing the toxins and excess fat from your body. Yes drinking this much water will mean more trips to the bathroom, but just think of it as additional exercise. More water = less fat. So start small and build.

This three part series is an expanded version of my original article The D.E.W method - how I lost 13 lbs.. I hope this information has been helpful to you and check out part 1 and 2 if you have a chance. A final reminder, before starting any diet or exercise program consult with your physician to determine what is right for you. Good luck and good health.
