Business cards are a very important tool with anyone with any kind of business. Business card quality is easy to determine just at a glance. There are some important factors and specific things to consider and look for in the business card printing process. A business card can make or break a deal, so here are some things to look for when ordering business cards.

Paper. Gloss or Cardstock. Paper quality is one of the most important factors in printing a quality business card. Paper must be heavy in order to give a serious professional appearance. For card stock, thickness should be at least 12 pt. Paper like that used in flyers and brochures should be at least 80lb. paper. Printing companies also offer UV coating to provide glossy appearance.

Ink. Raised ink printing is an important factor to look for that affects the quality appearance of business cards. One or two color raised ink printing adds depth and dimension to business cards. Full color business cards use lithographic printing to produce full color images with a glossy finish. Digital printing produces a matte finish and must use high quality ink, printing equipment, and paper to produce a good product.

Resolution and Clarity. For proper clarity in full color business cards, printers should use at least 175 line screen. This value, 175 lines per inch (LPI) defines the resolution of the image and refers to the how the printer prints the image.
